Albany, NY – The Northeast Charter Schools Network today sent the following statement in response to newly released statewide graduation rate data.
Northeast Charter Schools Network New York State Director Andrea Rogers said, “This new graduation rate data reinforces how well charter schools do when it comes to supporting high-need students. The data for English Language Learners are particularly striking: the average graduation rate for ELLs attending a charter schools is ten percentage points higher than the state average, and eleven points higher than the charter schools' district averages.
"Charter schools' overall graduation rate, and the rates for each high-need demographic, also beat the districts. And all this good news happened at a time when the charter graduation rate improved faster than the state and host district average
"It is no wonder demand for charters keeps growing; parents want to send their children to schools with proven results.”
