ANALYSIS: CHARTER SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO OUTPERFORM HOST DISTRICTS
Hartford, CT – The State Department of Education today released results of Connecticut’s new statewide assessments for grades 3-8 and 11.
In response, Jeremiah Grace, Connecticut State Director for the Northeast Charter Schools Network, said:
“The new test results confirm what we’ve been saying all along: charters are a great public option for families. The benefit of having a choice is clear: 81% of charters with reported results outperform their host district in ELA and 65% do the same in math. It is no wonder so many children are enrolled in charters or on a waitlist.
"At the same time we recognize that charter schools – like most other schools across Connecticut – must continue to aim higher and do better. We can and we will do whatever it takes so every Connecticut child has the opportunity to succeed."
