More 'Reading First' Drama

If you're into the whole Bob Slavin vs. Reading First insiders battle, especially the questions of why Success For All seemed to get boxed out by the feds in its preferred curriculum status, the Chronicle of Higher Ed this week does an awesome job putting the tale together. Also, Sol Stern is now on the Reading First case - he really digs it.

Meanwhile, on a similar topic, Joanne Jacobs notes that Zig Engelmann, the father of Direct Instruction, is describing how his program got screwed in a new book, The Outrage of Project Follow Through: 5 Million Failed Kids Later.
