More Spitzer Ed Details

The proposed state budget later this week is what really matters, but here are some promising words (from Gov. Eliot Spitzer's education speech today), via Capitol Confidential, to hold you over in the mean time. Looks encouraging, especially talk about linking greater funding with accountability -- as both are undoubtedly important.

Also today, Spitzer named former Rochester Superintendent Manuel Rivera as his education czar. Rivera was half-way to a job in Boston for Mayor Thomas Menino when Spitzer tapped him for the post. Not clear whether his bags were packed/unpacked or what. But he's the big cheese in the governor's office now.
