MEDIA ADVISORY: Buffalo Charter School Recruitment Fair This Weekend
Buffalo, NY – The Northeast Charter Schools Network is hosting the first annual Buffalo Charter School Recruitment Fair this weekend, open to all families who are interested in learning more about Buffalo charter schools. Fifteen of the city's schools will be attending. There is also the opportunity to apply for spots for the 2017-18 school year.
The recruitment fair will be held Saturday, March 11 from 12pm-2:30 pm at the St. John Baptist Church Life Center at 833 Michigan Ave, Buffalo.
The event is free and open to the public.
Northeast Charter Schools Network Western New York Advocacy Manager Duncan Kirkwood said, “Charters are free, public schools that take all students. Whether your child is an honors student getting straight As, or whether your child struggles, charters open their doors to all. That includes special needs students, and children who are learning English. Come find out more about the great work of Buffalo’s charters.”

Charter schools are achieving great results in Buffalo. Charters’ graduation rate is 87% compared to the district’s 62%. All six Buffalo charters with a graduating class in 2016 had a higher graduation rate than the district. These are just some reasons the waitlist in Buffalo is more than 3,000 names long.
