The Business Council has announced a draft 2013 legislative and regulatory agenda that includes support for The Charter School Students with Special Needs Act.  The bill, introduced last year by Senator Flanagan (R/C/IP) and Assemblyman Camara (D/WFP), passed in the Senate with a bi-partisan vote, but stalled in the Assembly's Education Committee.

The bill would enable charter schools to serve more students with special needs, including English language learners and students with disabilities, by authorizing BOCES to contract with charter schools and authorizing charter schools to establish consortia to serve students.
