CHARTER SCHOOLS MAKE BIGGEST GAINS ON STATE EXAMS IN BOTH MATH AND ELA
CHARTER SCHOOLS STATEWIDE BEAT SCHOOL DISTRICT AVERAGES IN BOTH SUBJECTS
Albany, NY – The Northeast Charter Schools Network today commended and congratulated the state’s charter schools for making the largest gains in student achievement on state exams in both Math and English Language Arts (ELA).
The test scores were released late Friday afternoon, showing that charter schools made the highest gains in the state. The scores can be found here: http://www.nysed.gov/common/nysed/files/2016-3-8-test-results.pdf
Northeast Charter Schools Network New York State Director Andrea Rogers said, “The results for 2016 are in and again they reinforce what we already know -- charters are working for families and students across the state.
“Despite serving a much higher need population than the state as a whole, charters outperformed the state averages in both ELA and math, and eclipsed the state in terms of percentage points increased in both subjects. This is why we fight so hard for their continued survival and growth.”
About the Northeast Charter Schools Network: The Northeast Charter Schools Network is the membership and advocacy organization for the more than 250 charter schools in New York and Connecticut. Its mission is to support and expand high quality charter schools.
