CONNECTICUT CHARTER ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS NEW STATEWIDE ASSESSMENTS
Hartford, CT – The State Department of Education today released the results of Connecticut’s new statewide assessments for grades 3-8 and 11.
In response to today’s test scores, Jeremiah Grace, Connecticut State Director for the Northeast Charter Schools Network, said:
“We are taking the time necessary to analyze this new data to see how charter students performed.
“What we do know is that charter schools embrace assessment and measurement, and look forward to using these results to better serve their students.
“Our primary focus continues to be ensuring that every charter student graduates high school ready for college or a successful career. These test results are one measure we use to determine how prepared a student is for a successful future.
“We remain deeply troubled by the low-performance of students in Connecticut’s largest cities. It’s clear that education in urban communities does not rival what families in many suburbs receive. All families deserve quality educational options that offer children a true opportunity to succeed.”
