Impact of Charter Schools discussion in New Haven

On Thursday evening, public charter school leaders, parents, and students came together for NECSN's first-ever Impact of Charter Schools panel discussion. The event was an open, honest conversation about what is working and not working in charter schools, and how they can improve.

The event was broken into two groups: a panel of charter school leaders who shared their thoughts on academic achievement, and parents and students who spoke passionately on how charters support students' social and emotional needs.

NECSN wants to give a special thank you to our two moderators, Nina Rees of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, and Babz Rawls Ivy of New Haven's Inner-City News, as well as all of our panelists for taking the time to participate. We were also fortunate to have local leaders Sen. Gary Holder-Winfield, Rep. Toni Walker, and Rep. Robyn Porter in attendance.

We here at NECSN are committed to ensuring that every child has access to a great public education. We love bringing people together to pinpoint what works best for our kids.
