Governor Cuomo today released his 2015-16 executive budget proposal that would raise the cap on charter schools. Some charter schools would receive an additional funding increase of $75 per pupil under his plan. Governor Cuomo also wants charters to give an admissions preference in their lotteries to students in failing schools as well as the children of charter school staff.

Albany, NY – Governor Cuomo today released his 2015-16 executive budget proposal that would raise the cap on charter schools. Some charter schools would receive an additional funding increase of $75 per pupil under his plan. Governor Cuomo also wants charters to give an admissions preference in their lotteries to students in failing schools as well as the children of charter school staff.
 
The Northeast Charter Schools Network CEO Kyle Rosenkrans said, "We thank the Governor for taking this important first step toward improving education across the state. We look forward to working with state leaders to create the conditions necessary for every child to go to a great school."
