State Charter Association Congratulates Charter Schools For Sharing Best Practices, Receiving Federal Grants to Foster Collaboration
Eight New York charter schools to receive grants to share best practices with district schools

Albany, NY - The Northeast Charter Schools Network today congratulated eight New York charter schools awarded $4 million as part of the federally funded Charter School Dissemination Grants from the State Education Department. Each school will receive $500,000 over the next three years to help share best practices and successful programs with district schools. Seven of the schools are located in New York City and one is located in Rochester.

Northeast Charter Schools Network New York State Director Andrea Rogers said, "Charter schools have long been at the forefront of innovation, raising the bar and improving education for thousands of students in communities that desperately need quality options. Families in Rochester and New York City know the burden of failing schools all too well. Fostering collaboration between charters and district schools is the right thing to do. Charters want to share what works, and students and teachers in those communities will benefit tremendously from this opportunity."

The New York City recipients are: Bronx Charter School for Better Learning, Broome Street Academy Charter School, Hellenic Classical Charter School, John W. Lavelle Prep Charter School, Leadership Prep Ocean Hill, Mott Haven Academy Charter School and Renaissance Charter School. In Rochester, Genesee Community Charter School.
