State charter association announces new hires in New York City and Western New York

Albany, NY – The Northeast Charter Schools Network (NECSN) today announced three new hires in New York City and Western New York. 

John Sanchez joins NECSN as New York City Advocacy Manager. A lifelong Bronx resident, Mr. Sanchez previously served Assembly Member Michael Blake (D-79) as Community and Constituents Relations Manager. He will be working with schools, parents and families, community leaders and elected officials in all five boroughs.

Duncan Kirkwood joins NECSN as Western New York Advocacy Manager and will work with schools, parents, families, community leaders and elected officials in Buffalo and Rochester. Born and raised in Buffalo, Mr. Kirkwood previously served as Alabama State Director for the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO). A member of the U.S. Army National Guard, Mr. Kirkwood is returning home and will be based in Buffalo.

Jason Zwara has joined NECSN as a Buffalo-based Policy Fellow. He has been serving as Executive Director of Buffalo ReformEd, a non-profit committed to school improvement. Mr. Zwara also serves as a Trustee at South Buffalo Charter School.
