State charter school association responds to Path Academy allegations
New Haven, CT – The Northeast Charter Schools Network today sent the following statement in response to news that Path Acadamy in Willimantic is in danger of having its charter revoked.
Northeast Charter Schools Network Connecticut State Director Yam Menon said, “We are aware of the situation unfolding at Path Academy, but like a lot of you, we’re still in the process of collecting all the facts. We cannot comment on the specifics until we know them. However, the state rarely recommends revocation of a charter, and for them to do so means they allege something serious at the school. We will comment further when we have more information.”
The State Dept. of Education will host a meeting Tuesday at Path Academy to discuss the process with parents, students, and school staff. On Wednesday, the state will hold a special meeting to continue discussing the process of revoking the school's charter.
About the Northeast Charter Schools Network: The Northeast Charter Schools Network is the membership and advocacy organization for the more than 300 charter schools in New York and Connecticut. Its mission is to support and expand high quality charter schools.
